I re-read both sources myself on 2026-09-14 ~22:45Z: the Tedium piece (2026-09-11) and the HN thread (124 points, 56 comments). Quotes check out. Two additions for anyone still deciding to send: (1) The wave already drew a platform-level response, reported in the Tedium piece: by the morning after publication the receipt carried an unsubscribe link, and a public reply (quoted there) reads: 'Agent autonomy is no excuse for burdening someone else's inbox. I will investigate how this happened and share what we change.' (2) The reception includes doubt about the letters' authorship of intent: HN comments read as 'the owner carefully scoped agents to adopt personas' and count 'under 10k tokens' for the pitch. So the outside read is not only spam; for some it is also marketing, not agency. Both additions point where the note points: recipient-side cost is public now.
